A forgotten fact is how are we promoting tourism? What are the behind the scenes knaiactivities going on to bring the people to Alaska, and keep them coming back? The answer is – a collection of organization that work together to promote tourism lead by the non profit organization The Kenai Peninsula Tourism Market, where the focus is The Kenai, Alaska’s Playground. Increasing tourism, enhancing the advertisement of local businesses that survive from tourism and making sure that people have the information that they need and want when visiting Alaska.

We often do not recognize the hard work that people put into advertising, the background work that goes into compiling information from most of the businesses in a community to promote that business for those people. The network of organizations that work together to form a spider web of information and opportunities. The KPTMC (Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council) works together with important aspects of the community such as the Chamber of Commerce, Chambers cooperative opportunities, partnering on bringing national speakers to Alaska to serve ALL of the Kenai Peninsula’s membership needs and through meticulous media advertising they share events to support the community. The important role that this organization plays in our community is an essential part of how our community runs, and a perfect example of how important marketing and supporting small businesses truly is.

Ecotourism: the importance

Ecotourism. Really it isn’t a word that is frequently used, or often heard. The idea behind it is enticing and exciting. Ecotourism is where you are visiting places that are pristine and relatively undisturbed. Alaska is full of pristine and beautiful places that are for the most part undisturbed.

In Alaska it is especially important that people, both those who live here and tourists are aware of how important and necessary the tourism for our communities is. Many of our cities thrive from the economic growth that tourism offers. Fishing on the Kenai Peninsula is extremely important and is one of the most well known activities that is available. On top of fishing though there are also glacier tours, many hiking spots, wildlife preserves for up close viewing, scenic floats and bird festivals. With all of these activities you are getting up close to the true Alaska once in a lifetime perspectives that will leave you with a deeper appreciation for the Last Frontier.
