Here, you can walk on glaciers, fish for King Salmon from some of the most pristine waters left on Earth, cruise the Kenai Fjords National Park, kayak with otters and seals. A forgotten fact is how are we promoting tourism? What are the behind the scenes activities going on to bring the people to Alaska, and keep them coming back? The answer is – a collection of organization that work together to promote tourism lead by the non profit organization The Kenai Peninsula Tourism Market, where the focus is The Kenai, Alaska’s Playground. Increasing tourism, enhancing the advertisement of local businesses that survive from tourism and making sure that people have the information that they need and want when visiting Alaska.
We often do not recognize the hard work that people put into advertising, the background work that goes into compiling information from most of the businesses in a community to promote that business for those people. The network of organizations that work together to form a spider web of information and opportunities. The KPTMC (Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council) works together with important aspects of the community such as the Chamber of Commerce, Chambers cooperative opportunities, partnering on bringing national speakers to Alaska to serve ALL of the Kenai Peninsula’s membership needs and through meticulous media advertising they share events to support the community. The important role that this organization plays in our community is an essential part of how our community runs, and a perfect example of how important marketing and supporting small businesses truly is.
